School ceiling collapses in Martvili municipality, none injured

A suspended ceiling has collapsed in the classroom of a newly-constructed public school in Georgia’s western village of Didi Chkoni in Martvili municipality.
The teacher and children were in the classroom when the incident occurred but no one was injured.
School director Tamila Shulaia told Rustavi 2 that class will be temporarily suspended and the construction company will cover the damages.
Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe reports that school renovation works were carried out by LTD Hidromsheni. Company director Elguja Totochia said that company representatives will re-inspect the building and all defects will be rectifies in the near future.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has announced today that the government plans to tighten construction regulations even further. "Construction permit issuance procedures should be strictly controlled and such a mistake should not be allowed a second time", said Garibashvili, referring to a residential building which collapsed in the Black Sea coastal city of Batumi last week killing nine.
A suspended ceiling has collapsed in a ward of the Iashvili Batumi Maternal and Child Central Hospital in the Black Sea coastal city of Batumi. Four children were in the ward at night when the incident happened but nobody was injured. The hospital management said that the cause of the accident would be identified after the investigation.
