A total of eight Georgian citizens have been arrested in the city of Barcelona for robbing apartments and membership in a criminal gang.
As a result of a large-scale special operation called Banu, nine members of the criminal group were arrested out of which one is a Russian citizen, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia reports.
The special operation was preceded by a one-year of investigative work in cooperation between Georgian and Spanish law enforcement agencies, the MIA says.
Seven apartments of the detainees have been searched.
The crime is punishable by five years of imprisonment.
