The Georgian Post has issued a special stamp featuring Dante’s effigy by famous Georgian painter Sergo Kobuladze.

The stamp was issued to mark the 700th anniversary of Italian poet, prose writer, literary theorist, moral philosopher and political thinker Dante Alighieri who is best known for the monumental epic poem The Divine Comedy.

Kobuladze’s portrait of Dante made in 1950 has great success at Venice Biennale in Italy in 1956. A total of 10,000 copies of the post stamp have been issued. Each stamp costs 3,7 GEL.
