Georgia reports 2,661 new cases of coronavirus, positivity rate up to 7.22%

Georgia has reported 2,661 new cases of coronavirus, 1,274 recoveries and 30 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate has gone up to 7.22% of tested individuals for Covid-19 as of October 7 in comparison to 5.70% of the last two weeks.
In total, 36,840 tests have been conducted around the country of which 22,119 were rapid tests, while the remaining 14,721 were PCR tests.
The new cases were recorded in:
- Tbilisi – 803 cases
- Imereti – 559 cases
- Kakheti – 420 cases
- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 293 cases
- Kvemo Kartli – 158 cases
- Shida Kartli – 116 cases
- Adjara - 105 cases
- Samtskhe-Javakheti – 60 cases
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 58 cases
- Guria – 53 cases
- Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 36 cases
Currently 21,847 individuals remain infected with Covid-19, of which:
- 16,986 patients are undergoing treatment at home
- 4,201 patients –in hospitals
- 660 patients – in the clinical-hotels
In addition, 970 patients are in critical condition of which 257 are on artificial ventilation.
As of today, 17,096 individuals are in self-isolation and 67 individuals are under quarantine.
Since February 26, 2020 Georgia has had 628,719 cases of coronavirus, 597,654 recoveries and 9,192 deaths.
Georgian citizens over the age of 50, individuals with chronic diseases and high-risk groups will be given a third dose (booster shot) of the Covid-19 vaccine, Georgian Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia announced earlier today.
Just three days after public and private kindergartens resumed operations across Georgia, 14 of them have already closed due to confirmed Covid-19 cases. The closed kindergartens will resume operations on October 18, announces the Kindergarten Management Agency of Tbilisi.
Georgia has reported 2,228 new cases of coronavirus, 1,711 recoveries and 28 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate has gone up to 7.0% of tested individuals for Covid-19 as of October 6 in comparison to 5.63% of the last two weeks.
A total of 8,106 people have been vaccinated in the past 24 hours in Georgia while the target of the Georgian government is to vaccinate 30,000 people daily to reach its vaccination goal of 60 per cent of the country population by the end of this year. The vaccination rate began to decline several weeks ago and less than 10,000 vaccinations have been administered daily since the start of October.
Georgia has reported 1,530 new cases of coronavirus, 1,848 recoveries and 23 deaths in the past 24 hours.
