Hunnewell Partners, an asset management and recovery firm, will purchase the local TV channel Imedi after the Communications Commission of Georgia gave its consent on the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Georgian Media Production Group, which holds local TV channels Imedi, GDS and Radio Imedi.
The owner of the TV channel Imedi Irakli Rukhadze is also one of the founders of Hunnewell Partners.
Rukhadze purchased the TV company with his partners two years ago and now he has only received consent for formal re-registration.
We will close the deal in a few months. We received the formal consent for re-registration from the Communications Commission today", he said.
Hunnewell Partners’ portfolio in Georgia includes organisations such as MagtiCom, Rustavi Metallurgical Plant, Heidelberg Cement, Liberty Bank and IDS Borjomi.
Georgian Media Production Group, which holds local TV channels Imedi, GDS and Radio Imedi is for sale. The Communications Commission of Georgia has already discussed the issue at today's meeting and gave its consent on the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Georgian Media Production Group.
