Georgia takes up Black Sea group chairmanship for six months

Albania has handed over the six-month rotating chairmanship of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) group to Georgia, effective today.

The Georgian Chairmanship-in-Office got underway during the 43rd Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the organisation held online on June 30, 2021. 

At the meeting Georgian Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani thanked Albania for its work during its chairmanship in the BSEC and confirmed Georgia's readiness for fruitful cooperation with member states over the next six months. 

Zalkaliani posted on his Twitter account that 'we are to spare no efforts' to eradicate challenges that remain in the organisation and further develop the economy 'for the benefit of our region'.
