Head of Infectious Diseases Centre: 33% of Tbilisi residents have contracted Covid-19

Thirty-three per cent (350,000) of Tbilisi residents have contracted Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, of which 23 per cent (220,000) were asymptomatic at the time of PCR testing, said the Head of the Infectious Diseases and AIDS Centre Tengiz Tsertsvadze today.

A total of 220,000 individuals didn’t know that they were infected with Covid-19, but they were found to have coronavirus antibodies. About 350,000 Tbilisi residents have contracted Covid-19”, said Tsertsvadze.

Tsertsvadze also noted the pandemic will be brought under control when 65 per cent of the population is vaccinated against Covid-19. He said currently there are 80 Covid vaccination sites in Georgia and soon there will be 250 points throughout the country.
