Police identified 2,270 victims of domestic violence and 2,141 abusers in the first quarter of 2021 throughout Georgia, reports the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA).
The MIA reports that out of 2,270 victims of violence 1,875 (83%) were women.
As for abusers, 1,818 were men and 323 were women.
The statistics of the first quarter of 2021 shows that 84 per cent of the victims of domestic violence were older than 25.
As for violence against children and adolescents, 5.7% of the victims of violence were under the age of 17 in the first quarter of 2021.
Georgian law enforcers issued 2,371 restraining orders to protect victims of violence in January-March of 2021.
