Right-hand drive vehicles will be able to continue operations using applications and call services up until January 1, 2022, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said earlier today, noting that the deadline for right-hand drive taxis had been expanded by one year taking into account the difficult economic situation and the pandemic.
Before the deadline extension, right-hand drive vehicles were allowed to work as category B taxis until January 1, 2021.
As a result of a reform which took effect on October 1, 2019 in Tbilisi taxis were divided into two categories.
Category A taxis are white, sport a sign with the inscription ‘TAXI Tbilisi’ visible on their vehicle and can pick up passengers both from the street and using online applications.
Category B taxis have no color restrictions and can only work with applications and call services.
