Swedish-Georgian co-production And Then We Danced has been named among The Guardian’s top 50 best films of 2020 in the United Kingdom.

Intense, winning romance about two male performers who spark a secret relationship in the ultra-conservative world of traditional Georgian dance”, The Guardian says.

And Then We Danced was named 26th out of the 50 best films in the UK:

Filmmaker Levan Akin's Swedish-Georgian-French co-production And Then We Danced was picked as Sweden's submission for the Best International Feature Film competition at the Academy Awards in 2019.

Akin's work is the story of a young performer Merab in the Georgian national dance company who develops an intense attraction to newcomer Irakli.

Portrayed by Levan Gelbakhiani, Merab is thrown into an emotional storm of both strong desire and jealousy for his new companion, with the encounter between the two male performers unfolding in the conservative dance company.
