Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani welcomes the 22nd consolidated report of the Council of Europe on the conflict in Georgia, which again reflects ‘the tremendously difficult humanitarian crisis’ for Georgia’s Russia-occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia).
This, Zalkaliani said, is ‘yet another pivotal expression of support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”.

The 22nd consolidated report, which covers the period between April and September, notes that throughout this time the efforts of international humanitarian organisations ‘in close coordination’ with the Georgian Foreign Ministry ‘have been mobilised in response to the COVID-19 crisis and its impact on the populations’.
It also notes that ‘despite the exceptional situation due to COVID-19’, the co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions (GID) ‘have remained fully engaged and retained close contact with all participants while continuing to address pertinent security and humanitarian related issues of the GID agenda’.
The European Union (EU) has also welcomed the report, expressing its grave concern about the continuous deterioration of the human rights and security situation in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions.
