Georgia has spent over 54 million GEL in eight months since early March for quarantine space, says the Georgian National Tourism Administration.
Funds spent during these months were distributed as follows:
- March – 5.92 mln GEL
- April – 9.5 mln GEL
- May – 8 mln GEL
- June – 4.33 mln GEL
- July – 4.79 mln GEL
- August – 7.71 mln GEL
- September – 7.02 mln GEL
- October – 6.76 mln GEL
211 hotels are used for quarantine (11,486 rooms in total) in the country.
In total, 112,762 people have used quarantine space since early March in Georgia. Meanwhile, 636 coronavirus cases in the country were reported from hotel space used for quarantine.
Over 3,580 people from the tourism industry are employed in the quarantine space in Georgia.
Following a sharp increase in coronavirus cases in Georgia the government of Georgia has decided that restaurants and all entertainment facilities in the capital city of Tbilisi and in Imereti region must shut at 10 p.m. starting October 16.
The Georgian government will continue subsidising pre-existing bank loans for companies in the hotel industry over the next six months, said PM Giorgi Gakharia earlier today.
The General Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has revealed a transnational crime involving the management of six hotels operating in Georgia which entered into a deal with a criminal group in order to fraudulently misappropriate funds belonging to various individuals and legal entities.
All kinds of shops, including shopping malls, open and closed produce markets and restaurants with outdoor seating areas have resumed work in Georgia today.
