The US Embassy in Tbilisi is commemorating the 19th anniversary of the deadly terror attack on the United States in 2001, which claimed nearly 3,000 lives and left thousands injured.
Time will not erase our memories of 9/11” says the embassy, noting “today we remember and mourn all those killed or left permanently injured in the terrorist attacks on that fateful day.”
Moreover, the embassy writes that it honors the courage and selflessness of all the brave men and women, firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and citizens who selflessly volunteered in those first moments to help save lives.
Over the past two decades, the fight against global terrorism has brought Americans and Georgians much closer; so too has our shared sacrifice,” says the embassy.
The US Embassy in Tbilisi says that is deeply values Georgia’s contributions to the NATO mission in Afghanistan and to global security and honours Georgians who have lost their lives in the fight against terrorism, just as the embassy honours the Americans lost on September 11, 2001 and after.
