Georgian Ambassador to Ukraine Teimuraz Sharashenidze, who was recalled from Ukraine to Georgia for consultations nearly four months ago, will return back to Ukraine when needed, Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani noted today.

Sharashenidze was recalled to Tbilisi for consultations on May 8 due to the appointment of Georgian ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili as chair of the executive committee of the Ukrainian National Reforms Council.

Zalakaliani told the media earlier today that the fact Sharashenidze was recalled from Ukraine in early May and has not returned back so far does not endanger the relations between the two countries.

I have a very close relationship with my colleague, Ukrainian Foreign Minister… Ukrainians are aware of Georgia’s position about this issue. Sharashenidze will return back to Ukraine when needed”, said Zalkaliani.

In early May the Georgian Foreign Ministry reported after Saakashvili’s appointment to the council that the fact would not lead to the suspension of diplomatic relations with Ukraine or cause any threats to the strategic partnership.
