New hazelnut facility to process up to 1,000 tonnes of hazelnuts annually

A new hazelnut processing and storage facility has opened in the village of Tela, in Lagodekhi municipality of Georgia, which is operated by local company Agritrade, announces the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia.

More than 900,000 GEL was invested in the facility of which about 500,000 GEL is preferential agro-credit. 

The new facility can process up to 1,000 tonnes of hazelnuts annually, helping more than 200 local farmers bring their products to market.

USAID Georgia Mission Director Peter Wiebler participated in the opening of the new USAID-supported hazelnut processing and storage facility. 

USAID said that it continues to support hazelnut farmers in Georgia to increase revenues and create jobs in rural areas.
