Emerging Europe: ‘Tbilisi tops in the Economic Potential category among 75 European cities’

Tbilisi has been recognised as the top business friendly destination among 75 European cities in the Economic Potential category, reports Emerging Europe.
Emerging Europe invited 70 global experts and foreign direct investment advisors to weigh up the various merits of the 75 cities in the emerging Europe region, which are either national capitals or have a population of more than 200,000 inhabitants.
Being acknowledged by Emerging Europe as the best city for economic potential underlines our effort and diligence in creating a business-friendly environment and uncovering the untapped potential of the city”, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said.
Emerging Europe also notes that Georgia has long been recognised as one of the easiest places in the world to do business, regularly topping the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business rankings for emerging Europe.

Georgia has ranked 7th among 190 countries in the World Bank Doing Business 2020 ranking, preceding the states like the UK, Norway and Sweden. Last year Georgia ranked 6th on the list. Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava says that the 83.7 score is the “historic maximum” for Georgia.
Georgia is the easiest place in emerging Europe to do business, shows the World Bank’s Doing Business report and this achievement was recognised at a conference held yesterday in Washington, D.C.
Georgia is the ninth among the world’s 190 countries according to the 15th anniversary edition of the World Bank Group’s annual Doing Business report. Georgia has also implemented the most reforms in the past 15 years, totaling 47, followed by Kazakhstan and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, with 41 each.
