Voters at the upcoming parliamentary elections in October will be required to observe two-meter social distancing regulations, and all individuals entering polling stations will be thermo screened, Georgian Parliament Speaker Archil Talakvadze told IPN news agency today.
The government has already started working on the safety measures and rules that will be in effect during the upcoming 2020 parliamentary elections to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus. Polling stations will be equipped with sanitizers and disinfection barriers. Tables and door handles will be cleaned with disinfectant liquid”, said Talakvadze.
In order to prevent the spread of the virus, pre-election campaigns and meetings with members of political parties will be held in open spaces at different locations.
It will be mandatory for all individuals to wear face masks in all closed areas.
The Central Election Commission of Georgia together with the Health Ministry and the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) will develop a final version of the recommendations of hygiene norms, which will later be agreed with parliament and government.
