Some Japanese, South Korean and German companies have expressed their desire to transfer part of their businesses to Georgia, Economy Minister Natia Turnava has recently stated.
Minister Turnava considers that by doing so, global companies would gain a comparative advantage. She also noted that in order to avoid unexpected challenges in the future, some of the companies would like to diversify and use platforms, alternative to China.
We should be plus one [to China] in everything, including in rapidly overcoming the [current] challenges and reopening the market for new investments”, Minister Turnava said.
She said these companies think of moving a certain portion of their supply chain to Georgia because “we offer an attractive, democratic business environment, stable economy, transparent legislation, low taxation and renovated programs” that the country plans to introduce within its post-crisis plan.
Turnava also underscored that despite the suspension of global operations, some of the large investors have already made a decision to enter Georgia, including a Japanese “giant company” TEPCO.
