Online businesses will be inspected next week to check for compliance with the recommendations of the Health Ministry in order to receive permission to begin working again safely, Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava said earlier today.

However, Turnava noted that businesses will likely have to wait a while longer before the economy can reboot.

Meanwhile, the state of emergency will likely be prolonged until May 10 to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus, said Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia on April 14.

Turnava said that more than 300 companies have already been inspected.

The inspections of businesses started on April 6.

The government of Georgia suspended several economic activities in the country when it announced a state of emergency and a nationwide curfew that aims to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Georgia.

In order for businesses to be allowed to continue their activities they need to meet the safety standards set by the Ministry of Health of Georgia.

Also, the number of economic activities that still continue in Georgia despite the state of emergency and nationwide curfew increased from 18 to 35.
