The Russia-occupied Georgian region of Abkhazia has reported a third case of coronavirus yesterday.
One man, born in 1925, who is from the town of Gagra, is in self-isolation now and is under medical supervision.
Local media reported that he had contact with the first and second coronavirus infected individuals. Reportedly, the coronavirus cases in the occupied region are connected with Russia.
Occupied Abkhazia announced the “state of emergency” on March 28 to prevent the spread of the virus. It later placed Gagra and Gali districts under quarantine.
Only Russia, Venezuela, Nikaragua, Nauru and Syria recognise Georgian regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali as independent states, while the rest of the international community recognises the regions as occupied by Russia.
