Georgian soldiers celebrate Christmas in Afghanistan

Georgian soldiers serving in a peacekeeping mission in the Bagram District in Parwan Province of Afghanistan are celebrating Orthodox Christmas today on January 7.

Soldiers of the 22nd Battalion of the II Infantry Brigade, who are based at the Bagram Air Base – the biggest airbase in Afghanistan – have attended a Christmas liturgy at the Georgian chapel on the base.

The battalion chaplain archpriest Ioseb Esakia led servicemen in prayer. .

The liturgy was also attended by servicemen from other nations.
