Interior minister meets outbound EUMM head to Georgia Hoeg

Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri has met with EUMM mission head to Georgia Erik Hoeg, a Danish diplomat who has ended his chairmanship in EUMM Georgia. 

 Gomelauri praised the role of the EUMM mission to Georgia and the activities carried out by Hoeg,” the Interior Ministry reports. 

 The EUMM is the only foreign mission in Georgia patrolling the occupation line and is actively involved in resolving conflict-related issues. 

 The mission is not allowed to enter Georgia’s two Russian-occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali.

 Hoeg was appointed as head of the EUMM mission on December 19, 2017. 

 Prior to this, he served as deputy head of EUMM Georgia since April 2015 and acting head of mission since 1 September 2017.

 Before joining the EUMM Hoeg worked for 16 years in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark both with bilateral and multilateral diplomacy.
