Georgia’s Maritime Transport Agency reports that Georgian sailors already have the opportunity to be employed on about 300 ships sailing under the Kuwait flag.

Tamar Ioseliani, head of the Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia, has signed an agreement with Kuwait today, which details the mutual recognition of certificates for Georgian sailors’ training and certification standards.

The memorandum was signed within the framework of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Assembly in London.

The majority of the fleet consists of modern vessels, most of which are tankers. Ioseliani mentioned that this will be especially interesting for Georgian sailors, as a significant part of them are tanker specialists.

Georgia’s Maritime Transport Agency also signed an agreement with Brazil and Germany two days ago, which means that Georgian sailors already have an opportunity to be employed on about 4,000 commercial ships sailing under Brazilian and German flags.
