Georgian farmers from Georgia’s eastern Lagodekhi region will have their sweet corn sold in Carrefour supermarket starting tomorrow.

Beneficiary farmers of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and EU-funded European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD) will be congratulated tomorrow by the Ambassador of EU to Georgia Carl Hartzell and FAO representative in Georgia Raimund Jehle at Carrefour, East-point, Tbilisi.

Beneficiaries of the FAO-ENPARD project Davit Kapanadze and Valentina Kapanadze are engaged in agricultural activities in the Lagodekhi region, east Georgia.

From January 2018, FAO is implementing the EU-funded programme “FAO support to Georgian agricultural sector under ENPARD III”.

The project consists of the following three main areas:

  • Technical assistance to the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture (MEPA)
  • Individual grants to small farmers, rural entrepreneurs, cooperatives, SMEs and municipalities
  • Demonstration, information dissemination, engagement and other training activities for farmers.
