US Navy P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft made a historic first visit for that type of aircraft to Georgia, the US Embassy to Georgia posted on its official Facebook page today.
The US Embassy reported the aircraft conducted training with the Georgian Coast Guard in the eastern Black Sea.
The visit underscores the strong military-to-military relationship between Georgia and the United States,” the US Embassy reports.
Earlier in April, US Ship Ross entered Georgia’s Black Sea port of Batumi.
The USS Ross, an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer also visited Georgia for the first time.
Its commander David Coles said “our allies in the Black Sea continue to play a key role in maintaining security in the European theatre”.
As US Embassy reported, the ship's visit marked continued cooperation between the United States and Georgia and promoted peace and stability in the region.
