Delegates from US, 10 foreign states attend regional conference on nuclear non-proliferation in Tbilisi

Tbilisi is hosting a regional conference on nuclear non-proliferation, attended by delegates from the US Department of Energy and International Atomic Energy Agency officials and 10 other foreign countries.

For Georgia, as a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it is of paramount importance to fulfill the obligations taken by international conventions. The Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia is actively taking steps to list and control nuclear materials,” Deputy Minister of Environment of Georgia Solomon Pavliashvili said.

He thanked the International Atomic Energy Agency and the US Department of Energy for their support.

The conference is scheduled to continue until July 26.
