Georgian PM saddened by tragic death of school child in Tbilisi

Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili is offering his condolences to the family and loved ones of a school child who died after a piece of glass fell on him early today.

The incident happened in the capital city of Tbilisi, on Baratashvili Street, where a piece of glass fell down from a building. As a result, six children, standing nearby, were injured.

One of these injured children died at the hospital. The 14-year-old teenager, Aslan Mammedov had wounds in his head and underwent surgery, though doctors could not save his life.

The condition of the other injured children is stable.

Shortly before that, the PM announced the mobilisation of all relevant agencies in order to ensure transportation of the children abroad in case of necessity.

Mamuka Chelidze, Head of Organised Crime Department of Central Criminal Police announced a while ago that Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs immediately started investigation into this case.

The investigation was launched under Article 116 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
