The minister highlighted the importance of allowing an international mechanism on the ground, which is strongly opposed by Russia and de facto regimes.

Tatunashvili and two others were detained by occupant forces on February 22. Tskhinvali media announced Tatunashvili’s death on February 23.

The de facto regime representatives claim the man died due to the heart failure. The Government of Georgia does not believe this version of events and demands the body in order to carry out an autopsy.

However, Tskhinvali refuses to hand over the body until Russian experts reveal their conclusion about the reasons for the man’s death.
