President hosts Heritage Foundation top figure

President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili has hosted the Heritage Foundation Douglas and Sarah Allison Center for Foreign Policy Director Luke Coffey.
The meeting at the Avlabari Presidential Palace was held behind closed doors.
Secretary of the National Security Council David Rakviashvili, who attended the meeting, stated that the main aim of the meeting was to discuss current Georgian-US relations.
First of all, this was about NATO-Georgia relations and the US role of supporting Georgia in quickly integrating into the Alliance,” Rakviashvili said.
Coffey represents one of the most influential, academic organizations in the US. Recommendations by the Heritage Foundation are very often taken into account by the US authorities,” Rakviashvili added.
The latest report by Coffey reads that it is in America’s national interest to deepen its bilateral relationship with Georgia.

Georgia is improving its place in the world in terms of economic freedom in the latest survey by the Heritage Foundation.The Index of Economic Freedom survey ranked Georgia in 16th place among 186 countries after it gained 76.2 points. This year Georgia gained 0.2 more points than in 2017 and was ranked 9th among 44 European countries, and its overall score is above regional and world averages.
Georgia is steadily improving its standing in economic freedom ratings and has been included in the top five list of "mostly free” countries in the world, shows the latest survey by the Heritage Foundation.
The 2016 Index of Economic Freedom released by Washington-based Heritage Foundation says despite global and a regional challenges Georgia’s economy has demonstrated "considerable resilience”.
