Deputy minister injured in car crash transferred to Turkish hospital

Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Mikheil Giorgadze was transferred to a Turkish hospital yesterday after sustaining serious injuries in a car accident on 17 November in Kvareli, Kakheti.
Giorgadze received a brain contusion, non-penetrating chest trauma, multiple rib fractures and a haunch bone fracture in a car crash over the weekend.
The victim was first taken to Ingorokva Hospital. Later on 20 November, Giorgadze was sent to hospital in Turkey.
Giorgadze was alone in the car when the accident happened, when his car crashed into a tree.
His relatives claim that his condition is stable, but that they prefer for him to remain in Turkey for the time being.
The Culture Ministry needs "a new, modern, reformative approach”, and the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili believes Mikheil Giorgadze, an economist with a rich cultural background, can offer this.
First Deputy Minister of Culture and Sport of Georgia Mikheil Giorgadze has announced his resignation and stated that he will return to the private sector.
