Georgian Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze has stated that the United National Movement opposition is trying to trigger provocations during the pre-election campaign and discredit the election environment ahead of October 28 presidential race.

The United National Movement is trying to artificially cause destrabilisation. However, they will not achieve the goal,” Kobakhidze saied.

Their election campaign is based on cheap, black PR campaign, spreading disinformation, and offending of the presidential candidate who is supported by us,” he added.

He said that the United National Movement satellite media is actively involved in “dirty campaign.”

Kobakhidze  stated that this year fake list of supporters were presented at the Georgian Central Election Commission, which is the “handwriting” of the United National Movement.

The United National Movement had run Georgia for nine years and it was defeated by the Georgian Dream coalition in 2012.
