Georgia ranks fifth among 125 countries in the 2018 Crime Index by Numbeo.

The country has improved its ranking by two steps compared to last year, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported today.

“Numbeo has rated the crime index in Georgia at 20.35 and the safety index at 79.65, which are improved numbers over last year.  This year Tbilisi has also improved its global ranking in terms of crime and safety and ranks 16th (instead of 19th in 2017) among 327 cities. Numbeo has set the crime rate for Tbilisi at 19.81 while the safety rate is at 80.19,” the MIA said.

The crime index is an estimation of overall level of crime in a given city or a country. Numbeo considers crime levels lower than 20 as very low, crime levels between 20 and 40 as being low, crime levels between 40 and 60 as being moderate, crime levels between 60 and 80 as being high and crime levels higher than 80 as being very high.

The safety index is a measure of a location’s safety. If the city has a high safety index, it is considered very safe.

So the safest (86,37) city according to Numbeo is Abu Dhabi with crime level at 13.63. The safest country is Japan with a rate of 87.31 and crime level at 12.69.

Numbeo is a large database which surveys visitors of the website to rate the cost of living, property prices, crime, health care, traffic, quality of life and travel costs globally in countries and cities separately.
