In the second quarter of 2018 the annual unemployment rate in Georgia declined by 1.9 percentage points and equalled 12.1 percent, says the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
In the reporting period, the economically active population constituted 64 percent of the working population (population of 15 years and older).
Employment level has been increased by 2.5 percentage points in Georgia’s urban areas, while in rural areas it has been reduced by 0.2 percentage points.
The share of self-employed people was 48.7 percent in the total employment data, said Geostat.
The unemployment rate in women decreased by 1.9 percentage points and in men – by 1.8 percentage points.
In 2017 the annual unemployment rate in Georgia declined by 0.1 percentage points and equalled 13.9 percent, shows the employment and unemployment annual data of 2017 of the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
The average monthly income in Georgia was 1,016 GEL (about $408.85/€348.77*) in 2017, shows the latest data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
Georgian businesses employed about 637,000 people in the first quarter (Q1) of 2018, of which 40.6 percent were women and 59.4 percent were men.
In 2016 the annual unemployment rate in Georgia declined by 0.2 percentage points and equalled 11.8 percent – the lowest level within the past 13 years, showed the employment and unemployment annual data of 2016 of the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
