Interior Ministry releases data on prosecution of illegal entries into Georgian occupied territories

Statistics released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia show that between 2015 and 2017, criminal prosecution was launched against 46 individuals who illegally entered the Georgian occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia), without any consent from the government of Georgia.  

Out of the 46 individuals, 18 were Russian citizens.

Between the reported period, criminal prosecution was launched against:

  • 18 Russian citizens.
  • 6 Azerbaijani citizens.
  • 7 Armenian citizens.
  • 3 Ukrainian citizens.
  • 5 Turkish citizens.
  • 1 Estonian citizen.
  • 2 Swedish citizens.
  • 1 Moldovan citizen.
  • 1 Pakistani  citizen.
  • 1 Uzbek citizen.
  • 1 Georgian citizen.
