Firefighters are trying to extinguish a fire in the Zeskho village of Mestia municipality of Svaneti region, as four fire locations remain active.

The Emergency Management Service reports that it is unlikely the four sites will cause any serious complications, nor will there be a spread of the fire which broke out three days ago.

Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti governor Archil Japaridze told the media that it is raining now in the village and only firefighters are at the scene.

If there is any necessity of  the involvement of a helicopter, it will become involved in the process when the rain stops,” Japaridze said.

The governor said that he expected that the fire will be extinguished shortly.

Japaridze said that 2,5 hectares of forest have been burnt.
