Deputy fills in for Georgian Minister of Justice on maternity leave

Georgia’s First Deputy Minister of Justice Aleksandre Baramidze will act as minister for the next two months while Minister Thea Tsulukiani is off for maternity leave.

Tsulukiani gave birth to a baby girl last night. The child was named Mariam.

Who is the acting Justice Minister?

Aleksandre Baramidze has been Deputy Justice Minister since October of 2012 and First Deputy Justice Minister since November of 2013. He is also the Parliamentary Secretary of the Justice Ministry.

Baramidze has pedagogical experience as well, and has been giving lectures for years at Georgian universities in media justice, international law and advocating.

He will lead the Georgian Ministry of Justice until Tsulukiani returns to the position in two months.
