Over a thousand students living in the villages adjacent to the occupied territories of Georgia will receive scholarships from Georgia’s Ministry of Education for the academic year 2017-2018.

This decision was made at today’s government meeting, announced Georgia’s Ministry of Education.

The ministry strives to offer financial assistance and support to students whose families were affected by the Russian occupation forces who are moving the occupation line further into Georgian territory.

More specifically, students from those families who suffered from property damage as a result of the illegal placement of so-called border signs or barbed-wire fences will be financed.

The ministry will also support these students to participate in exchange programs abroad.

Last year 905 students were financed while in 2015 – 736 students got the same financial assistance for their studies.
