Georgian wrestler Shmagi Bolkvadze becomes World champion

Last year Bolkvadze won bronze medals at the European championships and Rio Olympics.

Today Georgian Greco-Roman wrestler Shmagi Bolkvadze (66kg) became the World champion. 

The wrestler defeated all his rivals in the championship held in Bydgoszcz, Poland. 

Bolkvadze, 23, won the final battle with Alen Mirzoian, who participated as the Russian representative. 

Three other Georgians, Gela Bolkvadze (75kg), Lasha Gobadze (80kg) and Zviad Pataridze (130kg) won bronze medals. 

The Georgian Greco-Roman wrestling team received 51 points in total and took the first place, followed by Russia and Turkey. 

In 2016 Bolkvadze won bronze medals at the European championships and Rio Olympics.
