On the launch event for the exhibition, parliament chair Irakli Kobakhidze thanked the photographers for "preserving the history" of the days of the war and praised their work on the frontlines to capture moments of the conflict.

The attending audience was also addressed by Abdaladze, one of the five photographers featured in the display. The freelance photographer paid homage to the memory of his colleagues who became casualties in the short but devastating war.

Our group of photographers aimed [through the display] to again remind our public and ourselves of the grave times of the year 2008. Sadly, our colleagues — reporters and photographers — were among the casualties of the August War, and it was our wish to commemorate them", said Abdaladze.

The reporters featured in the exhibition created some of the most widely known photographs from the war in which hundreds of military and civilians were killed and over 20,000 civilian residents remain displaced.

The exhibition will be on public display in the courtyard of the former parliament building in Tbilisi through Tuesday.
