Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili has released a special statement in which he strongly condemned making trenches by occupant forces at the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) separating Georgia’s eastern Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region from the rest of Georgia.

The de facto Security Service of Tskhinvali announced yesterday that the trenches are for the fire protection zone and stressed engineers works will start on August 3.

Margvelashvili assessed this process as a "continuation of the creeping occupation of Georgia” and called on the international community to take a firm stance against these actions.

Actions of the occupant forces- erecting new border signs, creeping occupation and the militarization of Georgia’s occupied territories strain situation and create threats for regional stability,” Margvelashvili stated.
None of the cases of violating Georgia's territorial integrity will be left unanswered. Such actions should be strongly condemned in order to stop the creeping occupation,” the President added.

Margvelashvili stressed that the Georgian people "will never accept or tolerate this historic injustice – occupation of Georgia.”
