International observers to monitor local elections in Georgian

The National Democratic Institute (NDI) will send its election observation mission to the upcoming local elections in Georgia in autumn.
The delegation is comprised of international observers who arrived in Georgia today to meet with the Government of Georgia, election candidates, political party leaders, central election administration, media, local and international organisations.
During the five-day meeting, the NDI delegation will evaluate election preparations, political activities of election subjects and election environment.
On July 21 the NDI will sum up the pre-election environment in Georgia and provide recommendations.
Today the United States National Democratic Institute (NDI) released its final report on last month’s Parliamentary Elections in Georgia, stressing the race was conducted in a free and fair, competitive environment.
Following a vibrant and competitive campaign, citizens of Georgia were able to cast their votes freely and, in most places, vote counting happened in a calm and orderly manner, says a leading international observer mission.

High numbers of Georgian citizens believe Russia is real threat to Georgia and local support for EU membership remains strong, according to results of a public opinion survey released by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) today.
The most recent polls released by the US National Democratic Institute (NDI) show that 72 percent of the surveyed people approve Georgia’s membership in the EU, while 64 percent believe Georgia’s NATO membership should be the state priority.
The US National Democratic Institute (NDI), together with the Caucasus Research Resource Centers (CRRC Georgia), has published the political section of its survey today, which reads that the majority of those surveyed support the Georgian Dream (GD) ruling party.
