Georgia defeats Sweden at UEFA U-19 Championship

Youth Georgian football team has defeated Sweden with a score of 2 to 1 bringing the first victory to Georgia at the UEFA Under-19 Championship today.

Per the official UEFA webpage, "goals in the first 31 minutes from Giorgi Kokhreidze and Giorgi Kutsia gave Georgia a valuable 2-1 victory against Sweden, their first win in an Under-19 finals.”

Congratulations to the youth Georgian team with the first victory at the UEFA Under-19 Championship,” Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili posted on his official Facebook page.

Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze sent his congratulations on Twitter.

After today’s success, the Georgian team will now face with the youth team from the Czech Republic on Saturday, July 8.

UEFA Under-19 Championship is taking place in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi from July 2 until July 15.
