Georgia appoints new Deputy Chief Prosecutor

Former head of the Investigation Service of the Finance Ministry of Georgia, Giorgi Badashvili, has been appointed Deputy Chief Prosecutor.
Previously, Badashvili served as Chief Prosecutor and the current Chief Prosecutor, Irakli Shotadze, was once his deputy.
The Chief Prosecutor’s Office announced the appointment of Badashvili as Deputy Chief Prosecutor today.
Badashvili, born in 1981, served as head of the Investigation Service of the Finance Ministry from 2015-2017. He was Georgia’s Chief Prosecutor from January 2014 to December 2015.
He speaks Georgian, English and Russian.
Georgia has elected its first Chief Prosecutor. Today Parliament of Georgia approved a current high official employed in the Chief Prosecutor’s Office as the new Chief Prosecutor of Georgia.
The Deputy Chief Prosecutor of Georgia, Irakli Shotadze, is likely to become the country’s new Chief Prosecutor after being selected for the post under the newly adopted hiring method.
Conference of Prosecutors launched today in Tbilisi and was being attended by 438 prosecutors from all parts of the country as well as EU officials.
