The World Environment Day has been celebrated all over the world since 1972 with annual activities aimed at raising public awareness of their positive role in nature protection.
The world divides countries with borders, but ecology doesn’t recognise any borders. Global warming and climate change… air and water pollution… frequent usage of scarce resources and many other problems badly affects the health and welfare of every person”, Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili said.
He said he hopes "with solidarity and global efforts we can make the world a safer place for us and our children in harmony with nature”.
Under this year’s theme ‘Connecting People to Nature’, the World Environment Day "implores us to get outdoors and into nature, to appreciate its beauty and its importance, and to take forward the call to protect the Earth that we share”.
