Georgia and Belarus are developing links in the agricultural sector by creating a joint venture that will produce tractors.

A Belarusian branded and licensed tractor plant and a scientific centre will open in Vaziani, 20km outside Georgia’s capital Tbilisi.

This and other new and joint enterprises will also open in both countries.

Georgia’s Ministry of Agriculture and the Belarusian Ministry of Industry signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on April 23, 2015 confirming the mutual interest of both parties in developing cooperation.

Local company World Technic was also a signatory of the Memorandum. World Technic is a company that supplies the Georgian market with modern agricultural technologies, and though the deal, will play an important role in the Georgian-Belarusian plant.

At the time Agriculture Minister Otar Danelia said the agricultural sector was "very developed” in Belarus and this was a result of a "thoughtful and patriotic policy”. He believed Georgia could learn some valuable lessons by learning from Belarus’ experience in this direction.
