Georgia’s MIA Force motorsport driver races in world champs

A successful Georgian motorsport driver will soon be the first Georgian sportsman to participate in the Touring Car Racing (TCR) championship, beginning next month in Bahrain.

Car racer Davit Kajaia, winner of the 2015 European Touring Car Cup and the face of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, will compete in the first stage of the competition in Bahrain on April 2.

After Bahrain the TCR championship will continue in 10 other world famous racing tracks and end on November 20 in Portugal.

The driver with the best overall time will be awarded the champion’s title.

Kajaia, 32, a race car driver of the Ministry’s Service Agency Sports Club, MIA FORCE, is the face of the Ministry’s road safety campaign and sponsored by the National Bank of Georgia. 

Two days ago his efforts were supported at a special exhibition at the Modern Arts Museum in Tbilisi, where his sports car, photo materials and awards were presented.

Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mghebrishvili wished Kajaia success and spoke about the importance of sport to the nation of Georgia.
