Technology Park to open in Georgia’s Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region

Young creative thinkers in Georgia’s Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region will soon enjoy a special workspace where they can develop their entrepreneurial talents and innovative potential.

In the near future a new facility commonly referred to as Technology Park will open in Zugdidi. 

Zugdidi will be the second city in Georgia to have a Technology Park. The first facility of this type opened in capital Tbilisi in January 2015. The Technology Park aimed to promote scientific research and innovative ideas in Georgia as well as create a partnership between innovation and technology.

The Governor of Georgia’s Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region Levan Shonia said his office was now searching for an appropriate place to build the Technology Park. 

Meanwhile three sport halls will be built in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region this year following an announcement 2016 was the Year of Youth. 

Within the past three years 1,359 large infrastructural projects have been implemented in the region, worth 632 million GEL (about $271 million/€244 million*).
