The European Union (EU) is offering €14 million to Georgia to support the country as it moves towards EU integration.

Today Georgia's Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration David Bakradze and head of the EU Delegation to Georgia Janos Herman signed a financial agreement on Technical Cooperation Facility (TCF) in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi.

With this financial assistance the EU will support Georgia implement the EU-Georgia Association Agreement (AA), signed in June 2014.

The EU Delegation to Georgia further explained the TCF would enhance the capacity of the main Georgian public institutions to comply with commitments stemming from the AA in the key areas of energy, transport, electronic communications, environment and climate change.

The action also supported Georgia’s implementation of the Visa Liberalisation Action Plan (VLAP) and the Readmission Agreement, particularly on migration management, as well as combatting organised crime and domestic violence.

The EU has been supporting Georgia since the country signed the Association Agreement with the EU. Georgia receives this support in order to implement new standards and legislation,” said Bakradze.

The Minister stressed it was hugely important for Georgia to receive financial support during the country’s EU integration process.
