PM Kvirikashvili farewells outgoing French Ambassador to Georgia

Georgia’s Prime Minister thanked Reno Salens for his efforts in Georgia and wished him success in the future.

Georgia’s relationship with France was under the microscope today when the country’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met outgoing Ambassador of France to Georgia as he finished up his service in Georgia.

Today Kvirikashvili met and thanked French diplomat Reno Salens, 49, who completed his four-year diplomatic mission in the country. 

The duo discussed main aspects of the two countries’ relations, Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic and visa liberalisation efforts, as well as regional and international threats to security.

In the past four years Salen actively supported Georgia’s developing education sector.

Last year 20 of Georgia’s top academic students were given the opportunity to earn a Master’s degree at one of 320 French universities and tertiary institutions following a bilateral deal between Georgia and France. 

Salen’s, who speaks English, Spanish and Persian, came to Georgia in February 2012 from Tehran, Iran, where he served as the First Adviser of France’s Embassy in Tehran.

His career started in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France before he moved to the diplomatic service.

Before the meeting ended Kvirikashvili thanked Salens for his contribution to enhancing Georgian-French bilateral ties and wished him good luck in his future endeavors.
