Thousands of children in need will receive help and gifts from President of Georgia to mark the festive season as Giorgi Margvelashvili and first lady Maka Chichua also hosted disabled kids at the President's Christmas Tree event on Monday.

The Presidential Reserve Fund allocated finances for helping 2000 children across Georgia for a single charity occasion.

The initiative will also see festive season gifts sent to young residents of charity and care organisations.

In addition to the charity act, children with disabilities from Tbilisi care centres were hosted at a festive occasion along with young family members of employees of the President's administration and the National Security Council.

The visiting young citizens posed for photographs with the President and his spouse at the event while they were also treated to entertainment and gifts.

The President's Christmas Tree charity event was a customary occasion that involved socially underprivileged children at festive holidays.

Staged at the Tbilisi History Museum and the Presidential Residence, previous instances of the event hosted children of service members killed in wars for Georgia's territorial integrity and international peacekeeping missions.
